AH Accounting Services

Problem:
AH Accounting Services in
Sterling, VA was approached by Datatech Consulting, and told DTC a familiar
story: A business owner fed up with unreliable, costly IT consultants that
never seemed to fix the problem all the way.
AH was experiencing slow download speeds, issues with their email system,
connection problems with their server, among other things.
DTC was signed on to take
care of all of these issues, and then to manage the network for AH Accounting.
System
Stabilization:
The first step that DTC took
was to stabilize AH's network. During the stabilization phase, it was
discovered that AH did not have anti-spyware software, (and was never
recommended one by the previous service provider), they did not have a firewall
and so were fully exposed to internet attacks, and their server was improperly
configured.
DTC remedied all the above
problems by installing a firewall, fully securing the network, installing anti-spyware
and anti-virus software (one of the computers had over 500 instances of spyware!),
and installing the latest patches and updates on all the workstations including
the server.
These fixes significantly
increased download speeds, increased the speeds of the workstations, and proved
to solve the server problems, including the email issues (which were related to
the spyware issues as well).
With the network stabilized,
DTC got to work on the management of the network.
Management:
AH Accounting ended up
signing up for the Extended Plan (DTC's most popular solution). With this
plan AH is able to solve most of their issues (which are considerably less
disruptive than before) within an hour as apposed to having to wait for 3 - 4
days.
AH's anti-spyware,
anti-virus, security patches, software patches etc are all updated on a regular
basis eliminating a lot of problems before they become serious.
Regular maintenance visits
from DTC representatives ensures that AH's computers are working properly, and
optimally. Also any small tweaks etc are taken care of at these visits.
Conclusion:
AH Accounting's previous
service provider did not have an incentive in making sure their systems were
operational all the time and hence did not feel the need to completely solve
AH's problems. After all, the more problems AH had, the more money
they would end up making.
DTC's solution on the
other hand provides an incentive for DTC to make sure AH Accounting's
systems are running smoothly. This is simply because when AH's system
is down, it ends up costing DTC money for every hour it is down.
AH Accounting's CEO
has become a very vocal fan of DTC's solutions and services. With
these services he is able to focus more on acquiring clients, projecting
sales, and strategizing instead of wondering when his server will become
available again.
